La semaine de relâche approchant, avez-vous planifié un voyage avec vos enfants? Si c’est le cas, vous faites peut-être partie de ceux ayant choisi de s’évader vers la chaleur de la Floride. Cette dernière est une destination parfaite, car elle est toute désignée pour combler tous les membres de la famille.
Pendant cette semaine au chaud, vous aimeriez faire plaisir à vos enfants et à vous-même et vous planifiez aller dans un site thématique de Disney World ou d’Universal Studios, mais devant la panoplie de choix de parc, vous hésitez à faire votre sélection finale de peur de ne pas satisfaire tout le monde.
Vous êtes à la bonne place, car je décortique ici, pour vous, les différents parcs thématiques (en vous expliquant leurs principales caractéristiques) en plus de vous guider sur ce qui est mieux selon votre situation, qu’elle soit familiale, seule, en couple ou entres amis. J’explique aussi quel est le meilleur choix, selon l’âge et les intérêts de chacun.
Disney World
Tout d’abord il faut savoir qu’il existe plusieurs sites Disney à travers le monde. Les 
différents sites sont localisés au Japon (Tokyo Disney Resort), en Chine (Shanghai Disney Resort), à Hong Kong (Hong Kong Disneyland), en France (Disneyland Paris), Hawaii (Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa), en Californie (Disneyland Resort) et finalement, Walt Disney World Resort en Floride.
Disneyland en Californie a été, en 1955, le premier parc thématique ouvert et inauguré par M. Walt Elias « Walt » Disney. Par la suite, Walt Disney World Resort a ouvert ses portes en 1971, à Orlando en Floride.
Le site d’Orlando est sans contredit le plus connus de tous. Celui-ci comprend 4 parcs thématiques (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios et Epcot Center). Il y a également 2 parcs aquatiques (Typhoon Lagoon et Blizzard Beach), des dizaines de sites hôteliers et 5 terrains de golf.
Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom se traduit « Le Royaume enchanté ». Comme son nom l’indique, il s’agit du parc thématique le plus enchanteur et dédié aux classiques de notre enfance.
Le parc est connu mondialement comme étant la résidence du Château de Cendrillon.
Mickey Mouse, Peter Pan, Cendrillon, Dumbo, Winnie l’ourson, la Petite Sirène et Blanche Neige, pour ne nommer qu’eux, sont les dignes représentants des différentes attractions de ce parc.
Les attractions sont souvent bien adaptées aux tout-petits et il y aura beaucoup de choix pour ces derniers. En plus, les thématiques des attractions sont principalement liées aux références connues des jeunes enfants.
Bien que destiné aux enfants, le parc Magic Kingdom est aussi un superbe endroit pour les adolescents et les adultes qui y retrouveront bien des souvenirs et une belle nostalgie. Il y a plusieurs attractions que les plus vieux apprécieront certainement, comme Space Mountain et Splash Mountain.
Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom, quant à lui, s’oriente sur le thème des animaux (comme son nom l’indique si bien). Il s’agit présentement du plus grand des parcs thématiques de Disney et ce, à travers le monde!
Le symbole de ce parc est le célèbre Arbre de la vie (Tree of Life) présent dans le film Le Roi Lion. La majorité des attractions sont à thématique zoologique. Si vous voulez vivre un Safari sans avoir à vous rendre en Afrique, c’est l’endroit tout indiqué ! Vous pourrez en avoir un bel aperçu via l’attraction Kilimandjaro Safari.
Si vous (ou vos enfants) êtes passionnés des animaux, c’est le parc idéal.
C’est également dans ce parc que l’on trouve maintenant la nouvelle zone dédiée à l’univers d’Avatar (film de James Cameron). Cette zone, nommée Pandora : The World of Avatar, a été inaugurée en mai 2017.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Ce parc, vous l’aurez peut-être deviné de par son nom, est consacré à l’univers du cinéma. À l’origine, le parc avait pour nom Disney-MGM Studios, mais lorsque Disney et MGM ont cessé leur contrat, le parc a été renommé. À l’époque, en plus d’être un parc thématique avec attractions, il y avait de réels studios de production cinématographique. Les visiteurs pouvaient d’ailleurs en voir le fonctionnement. Avec la restructuration du parc, la portion cinématographique a été délaissée et on y trouve maintenant un parc thématique à part entière.
Plusieurs films y sont honorés : Histoire de jouets (Toy Story), Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Les Muppets et Pirates des Caraïbes. Une nouvelle zone (nommée Star Wars : Galaxy’s Edge) sera également dédiée au monde de Star Wars et ouvrira ses portes en 2019.
Si vous êtes fanatiques de sensations fortes, ne manquez pas les attractions Tower of Terror ainsi que Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
Epcot Center
Ce quatrième parc thématique, et non le moindre, a été créé avec pour thème le monde d’aujourd’hui et de demain. Des pavillons de plusieurs pays sont répartis autour d’un grand lac et dans chacun d’eux on y trouve des boutiques, des restaurants ou des attractions permettant aux visiteurs d’en apprendre plus sur le pays en question. Il y a un pavillon pour le Mexique, les États-Unis, le Canada, la Chine, le Japon, la France, l’Espagne et le Maroc pour ne nommer qu’eux.
C’est dans ce parc que vous trouverez l’immense structure en forme de balle de golf. À l’intérieur de cette boule grise se trouve la première attraction du site, soit un parcours dans un wagon permettant de retracer toute l’histoire des technologies (en passant par le premier téléphone jusqu’à l’invention des tablettes tactiles). Une autre attraction vous permettra de survoler les grandes merveilles du monde à bord d’un deltaplane.
Epcot Center est plus intéressant pour les ados et les adultes. Les très jeunes enfants pourraient trouver le temps un peu plus long, car il y a moins d’attractions liées aux personnages de Disney. De plus, certains manèges nécessitent un poids et une grandeur minimums. Toutefois, comme dans tous les parcs thématiques, des personnages de films cultes (comme Alice au pays des merveilles, Mary Poppins, Aladin et Jasmine, etc.) peuvent être aperçus et approchés pour prendre des photos.
Pour conclure avec la section sur Disney World, prenez note que les 4 parcs thématiques offrent des spectacles variés tout au long de la journée. Il est également possible d’y voir des parades et il vous faudra absolument rester en soirée pour voir les feux d’artifices et les spectacles de sons et de lumières uniques et à thématique de chacun des parcs.
Universal
Il existe 2 parcs à Universal Orlando : Le premier Universal Studios et le second Universal’s Island of Adventure.
Dans le parc Universal Studios, vous trouverez des répliques des principaux décors
utilisés dans les films. Dans ce parc, il y a des attractions pour toute la famille. En passant
par Détestable moi (où vous retrouverez Gru et ses Minions), La Revanche de la Momie, E.T. l’extraterrestre, Hommes en noir (Men in Black), les Simpson, et bien plus, les petits comme les grands auront bien du plaisir. Il ne faut surtout pas oublier la nouvelle attraction « Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ». Cette dernière a ouvert ses portes en 2014 et fait suite à la première zone consacrée à Harry Potter dans le parc thématique Universal’s Island of Adventure. Avec cette dernière attraction, vous pourrez également avoir le plaisir de flâner sur Diagon Alley (traduit Le Chemin de Traverse).
Dans le 2e parc Universal’s Island of Adventure, vous trouverez tout autant d’attractions que chez son parc frère. Cette fois-ci, les thèmes s’orientent vers les super héros avec l’univers de Marvel. Vous y trouverez des attractions avec, pour personnages principaux, Hulk et Spiderman. Vous aurez aussi la chance de croiser d’autres personnages dont Wolverine et Captain America.
Il y a également une zone Jurassic Park, basée sur le célèbre film éponyme.
Harry Potter est bien présent à Universal’s Island of Adventure. Plusieurs attractions y sont dédiées. Vous pourrez vous émerveiller devant le château Poudlard en plus de vous promener dans la réplique du village Pré-au-lard (Hogsmeade). À noter qu’il est possible d’accéder aux attractions d’Harry Potter des 2 parcs à thème d’Universal en prenant un train : le Poudlard Express !
Enfin, le parc Universal’s Island of Adventure comprend une zone entièrement dédiée aux jeunes enfants et elle se nomme Seuss Landing.
En résumé, bien que tous les parcs de Disney et d’Universal peuvent être appréciés et ce, peu importe l’âge, certains sont plus adaptés pour certaines tranches d’âge.
Les tout-petits seront émerveillés à Magic Kingdom et à Animal Kingdom. Les ados trouveront leur compte à Disney’s Hollywood Studios et aux parcs d’Universal et les adultes apprécieront beaucoup Epcot Center.
Mais une chose importante à garder en tête est que tous les parcs peuvent être visités en famille et ce, même si votre troupe va de 1 ans à 70 ans.

With Spring Break approaching, have you planned a trip with your children? If so, you’re may be one of those who chose to escape to the Florida heat. The latter is a classic destination because it is perfect for all family members.
During this warm week, you would like to please your children and yourself and you plan to go to a thematic site of Disney World or Universal Studios, but in front of the panoply of choices of parks, you’re still hesitating on your final choice for fear of not satisfying everyone.
You are at the right place, because I decorticate here, for you, the various theme parks (explaining their main characteristics) in addition to guide you on what is best for your situation, whether you are going in family, alone, in couple or with friends. I also explain what is the best choice, according to the age and the interests of each one.
Disney World
First of all, you have to know that there are several Disney sites around the world. The different sites are located in Japan (Tokyo Disney Resort), China (Shanghai Disney Resort), Hong Kong (Hong Kong Disneyland), France (Disneyland Paris), Hawaii (Aulani, Disney Resort & Spa), California (Disneyland Resort) and finally, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Disneyland California was, in 1955, the first theme park opened and inaugurated by Mr. Walt Elias « Walt » Disney. Subsequently, Walt Disney World Resort opened in 1971 in Orlando, Florida.
The Orlando site is unquestionably the best known of all. It includes 4 theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot Center). There are also 2 water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach), dozens of hotel sites and 5 golf courses.
Magic Kingdom
At Magic Kingdom park, its name says it, is the most enchanting theme park dedicated to the classics of our childhood.
The park is known worldwide to be the residence of Cinderella’s castle.
Mickey Mouse, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, the Little Mermaid and Snow White, to name only a few, are the worthy representatives of the park’s different attractions.
The attractions are often well suited to toddlers and there will be plenty of choices for these. In addition, theme attractions are mainly related to the known references of young children.
Although intended for children, the Magic Kingdom Park is also a great place for teenagers and adults who will find many memories and a sweet nostalgia. There are many attractions that the older ones will certainly enjoy, such as Space Mountain and Splash Mountain.
Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom, on the other hand, is oriented on the animals theme (as its name says so well). It is currently the largest Disney theme park in the world!
The symbol of this park is the famous Tree of Life present in the movie The Lion King. The majority of attractions are zoological themed. If you want to live a Safari without having to go to Africa, this is the place! You will be able to have a good overview via the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction.
If you (or your children) are passionate about animals, this is the ideal park.
It is also in this park that we now find the new area dedicated to the universe of Avatar (film by James Cameron). This area, named Pandora: The World of Avatar, was inaugurated in May 2017.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
This park, you may have guessed by its name, is dedicated to the world of cinema. The park was originally nammed Disney-MGM Studios, but when Disney and MGM ceased their contract, the park was renamed. At the time, in addition to being a theme park with attractions, there were real film studios. Visitors could see how it works. With the restructuring of the park, the cinematographic portion has been abandoned and there is now a theme park in its own right.
Several films are honored: Toy Story, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, The Muppets and Pirates of the Caribbean. A new zone (named Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge) will also be dedicated to the world of Star Wars and will open in 2019.
If you are a fan of thrills, do not miss the attractions of Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
Epcot Center
This fourth thematic park, and not the least, was created with the theme of the world of today and tomorrow. Pavilions of several countries are spread around a large lake and in each of them there are shops, restaurants or attractions allowing visitors to learn more about the country in question. There is a pavilion for Mexico, the United States, Canada, China, Japan, France, Spain and Morocco to name a few.
It is in this park that you will find the immense structure in the shape of a golf ball. Inside this gray ball is the first attraction of the site, a journey in a wagon to trace the history of technology (through the first phone to the invention of tablets touch). Another attraction will allow you to fly over the great wonders of the world aboard a hang glider.
Epcot Center is more interesting for teens and adults. Very young children might find the time a bit long, as there are fewer attractions related to Disney characters. In addition, some rides require a minimum weight and size. However, as in all theme parks, characters from cult movies (such as Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins, Aladdin and Jasmine, etc.) can be seen and approached to take pictures.
To conclude with the section on Disney World, take note that the 4 theme parks offer varied shows throughout the day. It is also possible to see parades and you will absolutely have to stay in the evening to see the fireworks and shows of sounds and lights unique and in the thematic of each of the parks.
Universal
There are 2 parks at Universal Orlando: The first one is Universal Studios and the second is Universal’s Island of Adventure.
In Universal Studios Park, you will find replicas of the main sets used in the films. In
this park, there are attractions for the whole family. Going through Despicable Me (where you will find Gru and his Minions), The Revenge of the Mummy, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Men in Black, the Simpsons, and more, both young and elderly will have pleasure. Don’t miss the new attraction « Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts« . The latter opened in 2014 and follows the first area dedicated to Harry Potter in the theme park Universal’s Island of Adventure. With this attraction, you can also have the pleasure of strolling on Diagon Alley.
In the 2nd park, Universal’s Island of Adventure, you’ll find as many attractions as at his sister park. This time, the themes are moving towards the superheroes with Marvel’s universe. You will find attractions with, for main characters, Hulk and Spiderman. You will also have the chance to meet other characters including Wolverine and Captain America.
There is also a Jurassic Park area, based on the famous film of the same name.
Harry Potter is present at Universal’s Island of Adventure. Several attractions are dedicated to it. You will be able to marvel at the Hogwarts Castle and take a walk in the Hogsmeade village. Note that it is possible to access Harry Potter’s attractions in bith Universal theme parks by taking a train: the Hogwarts Express!
Finally, Universal’s Island of Adventure Park has a dedicated area for young children and is called Seuss Landing.
In summary, although all Disney and Universal parks can be enjoyed at any age, some are more suitable for certain age groups.
Toddlers will marvel at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Teens will get excited with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Universal Parks, and adults will love Epcot Center.
One important thing to keep in mind is that all parks can be visited in family, even if your troop goes from 1 to 70 years old. Remember that you are never too old to go to Disney World or Universal Studios.
