Cet été, je suis allée passer un long weekend dans la plus grande métropole du Canada, soit Toronto. J’y étais déjà allée à quelques reprises, mais cela remontait déjà plusieurs années.

Lors de mon récent séjour, j’y ai découvert un restaurant que je ne pouvais pas m’abstenir de vous partager tellement je l’ai aimé. C’est un restaurant thaïlandais (je suis une grande fan de la nourriture thaï 🙂 ) et je suis tombée en amour avec cet endroit ! Le restaurant se nomme Khao San Road et se situe au 11 Charlotte Street.

J’ai trouvé ce petit bijou en me fiant à TripAdvisor sur lequel j’ai recherché les meilleurs restaurants thaïlandais à Toronto. Le Khao San Road figure en 2e place sur TripAdvisor dans la catégorie restaurants thaï. Encore une fois, l’application TripAdvisor ne m’a pas déçue et étonnamment, le restaurant a même été au-delà de mes attentes!
J’y suis allée avec ma mère, le dimanche soir, 1er juillet. Nous nous attendions à devoir attendre dû au fait qu’il s’agissait de la journée de la fête du Canada (et vu les nombreux commentaires à ce sujet).
Nous sommes arrivées vers 17h45, il n’y avait aucune attente, nous avons eu une table immédiatement. Le personnel à l’accueil était très courtois et souriant.

En entrée, nous avons pris les Fresh Rolls. Cette entrée est suffisante pour 2, même si vous avez un bon appétit (il y a 6 gros demi-rouleaux).
En plat principal, j’ai pris le pad gra prao au poulet. Un vrai délice ! Portion généreuse et bien assaisonnée. J’ai demandé légèrement assaisonné (niveau 1) et c’était parfait pour moi qui n’aime pas trop piquant.
Comme plat principal, ma mère a pris une 2e entrée, soit les garlic shrimps (crevettes à l’ail). Elle a adoré, mais a trouvé très épicé, donc avis aux gens qui aiment moins manger épicé !

Le service a été impeccable, rapide et toujours souriant. Les plats sont exquis et généreux et l’ambiance est chaleureuse. Les prix sont raisonnables et tout à fait abordables (environ 17$ pour un plat principal).

Dommage, j’ai oublié de prendre des photos, mais si vous vous rendez sur TripAdvisor, je confirme que les photos publiées par d’autres voyageurs sont très fidèles.
J’ai également jeté un coup d’oeil à tous les plats qui passaient autour de nous et tous avaient l’air délicieux.

Ce restaurant n’est pas situé sur une artère touristique principale (mais à deux pas de King Street et de Queen Street) donc il faut vraiment savoir que c’est à ce restaurant  précisément qu’on veut manger. Vivement TripAdvisor pour cette superbe découverte! 🙂

Je vous le recommande fortement et j’y retournerai assurément.
Un conseil : même si vous arrivez et qu’il y a un temps d’attente, ça vaut le coup de patienter !

ENGLISH VERSION

This summer, I went for a long weekend in Toronto, largest metropolis in Canada. I’d previously been there a few times, but it was already several years ago.

During my recent stay, I discovered a restaurant that I could not refrain from sharing with you, so much I loved it. It’s a Thai restaurant (I’m a big fan of Thai food 🙂 ) and I fell in love with this place! The restaurant is called Khao San Road and is located at 11 Charlotte Street.

I found this gem on TripAdvisor on which I searched the best Thai restaurants in Toronto. Khao San Road is ranked 2nd on TripAdvisor in the Thai restaurants category. Again, the TripAdvisor app didn’t disappoint me and surprisingly, the restaurant has even been beyond my expectations!

I went with my mother on Sunday evening, July 1st. We expected to have to wait because it was Canada Day (and I read many comments about the wait that can be long).

We arrived around 5:45 pm and there was no waiting. We immediately had a table. The front desk staff was very courteous and smiling.

As a starter, we took the Fresh Rolls. This starter is sufficient for 2, even if you have a large appetite (there are 6 big half-rolls).

As a main course, I took the pad prao chicken. A true delight ! Generous portion and well seasoned. I asked for slightly seasoned (level 1) and it was perfect for me who doesn’t like too spicy food.

On her side, for her main course, my mother had a second starter, garlic shrimps. She loved it but found it very spicy, so if you don’t like to eat spicy, take note!

The service was impeccable, fast and always smiling. The dishes are exquisite and generous and the atmosphere is warm. Prices are reasonable and quite affordable (about $ 17 for a main course).

Too bad, I forgot to take pictures, but if you go on TripAdvisor, I confirm that the photos published by other travelers are very faithful.

I also took a look at all the food around us and all looked delicious.

This restaurant is not located on a main tourist road (but very close to King Street and Queen Street) so you have to know that it is to this specific restaurant that you want to eat. Thumbs up to TripAdvisor for this great discovery! 🙂

I highly recommend it and will definitely return.

A tip: even if you arrive and there is a waiting time, it’s worth waiting!
